Engagements at Congress in Ottawa, May 2009

I am presenting two papers and co-facilitating a panel at the 2009 Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities in Ottawa:

  • A paper titled “Casino capitalism for kids?: structure and agency in the Pokemon economy” for a joint session of the Association for Research in Cultures of Young People (ARCYP) and the Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English (ACCUTE)  “Advertising to/for/with Children.”;
  • A paper titled “The dammed of the earth: Roy, King and the X-Men” at the Canadian Association of Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (CACLALS); and
  • A double-panel titled “What is the radical imagination?” (organized with Alex Khasnabish) for the Socialist Studies Society (SSS).
