Abstract
This short illustrated chapter discusses the history of the shopping cart as a monument and vehicle to late capitalism, as well as the work of artists who have used them as a means of social commentary. The essay appears in a book about the artist Kelley Wood, whose photographs features the uses of derelict shopping carts in Vancouver, Canada.
